I want to start one but i don’t know what butterfly are in my area. I live in California , Bakersfield. Which is central. Can you help me?
For my gold award, I am redoing and very much improving a butterfly garden at my local park. I was wondering cost-wise, how much do butterfly gardens cost (just the plants alone)? Also, I live in West-Central Florida, if regions change anything. Thanks!
it will be on the south side of my house, and i live in zone 5 ( dont know if that matters). here is the garden that i am going to try to build. it is the second one down http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/gardens/butterfly/designs.html
how do i get the soil ready for the plants? and do i put mulch in around the plants? ive never had a garden before so im kinda just learning. i am going to go get a book from the library next week, but i want to see if i can even afford to try to build a garden like this. also if you look at the size scale of that garden, it is the same size as the area i have to use. about how many plants of each of those flowers should i purchase? i have been told that most of those spread, so should i just buy like 1 or two plants of each or should i try to plant seeds? any ideas are appreciated? thanks
Butterflies are eating my green dill and parsley, half-dozen mockingbirds are eating my peppermint each day, and I didn’t get but 3 figs last summer because of the birds. How much should I share?
I’m starting an herb garden and I’m going to buy the seedlings today, but I’m not sure what I should buy. What are some commonly used herbs that are easy to grow? Also, I’d like to put in at least one butterfly-attracting plant, so what are some of those? It doesn’t matter if that one is an herb. Thanks.
Are there any plants or bushes I can purchase that will help keep the bees away from my yard and deck?
Even one’s that don’t require staking. Is it possible my garden soil is lacking something? I have mostly drought tolerant plants, like purple coneflower, butterfly weed, shasta daisy etc. I don’t hardly ever water because, last year I thought too much watering was what made them flop. My garden gets about six hours of sun light.
Hello-
I am interested in planinting some bulbs for spring. I am very new at gardening, but I am trying to make an area in my backyard for birds & butterflies. Since it is too late in the year for me (I’m in Ohio) to get anything else to thrive, I am thinking of putting some bulbs down. Any ideas/thoughts/tips on my area would be good. I am planning on putting in a birdbath, feeder, and flowers. THANKS!
When I transplanted it, it was already brown and the branches were dead any advice to get it growing and alive, I’m in the process of making a butterfly garden and this bush will really complete the garden and make it look beautiful!!! and if you know of any other plants that attract a lot of butterflies let me know!
