Prune rose bushes

Force rhubarb

Pot up summer bulbs

Build a compost heap

Trim winter-flowering heathers

Sow leeks and onions in a heated propagator

Feed winter-flowering pot plants

Cut back any overgrown ivy

Lift and divide congested clumps of snowdrops and buy new ones `in the green'

Start spraying outdoor peach and nectarine leaves to prevent peach-leaf curl

Continue sowing seed of summer bedding plants

Check borders for weeds and tackle any problem areas

 

Prune winter jasmine after flowering

Sprinkle fertiliser around fruit trees and bushes

Bring strawberries in pots under cover for early crops

Spread mulches of bark or compost over flower-beds

Plant out gladioli, lilies, galtonias and, other summer bulbs

Rake over sites for early sowings and cover to warm the soil

Start watering fuchsias to bring back into growth

Prepare the soil for sowing hardy annuals in April
