Will grow in any situation. Plant bare-rooted canes
in November or December. Dig a trench about 12 to 18 inches wide and
3 inches deep. Spread out the roots. Replace the soil ensuring the
old soil mark is level with the surface. Cut the stem back to a bud
about 1 ft above soil level. Water well. Container-grown plants can
be planted at any time. |
Between July and September dig a hole and bury the
top of a shoot about 6 inches deep. Hold down and replace the soil.
Once rooted remove from the parent plant and plant on. |
Grow against horizontal wires. In autumn Cut out
canes which have fruited leaving the un-fruited canes tied in for
next year. In spring/summer tie in the new growth along each wire.

Will grow

Apply a
general fertiliser in March and then mulch. |
Water regularly during the first season and keep the
soil moist while the fruit is swelling. |
Pick when
fully coloured and soft. Leave the stalk and plug behind. |

freeze as soon as possible. |
